The following is One Day NY’s first collaboration outside of skating with our good friend Suede Jury and The Brooklyn Good Guys. This video serves to give you a glimpse into the rest of a great compilation called Dreamers Block by BK native, Suede Jury. Check out Dreamers Block at:
A few words with Suede Jury about this project:
“My only hope is that this album makes you all muse a bit while you nod your head, and appreciate the range of expressive artistry available within the medium of hiphop. Dreamer’s Block was the product of determination, genuine enjoyment, and quarter-life crisis stress. I literally felt my artistic contribution was largely hypothetical and/or obscure up to this point; this album was years in the making. I owed this album to myself & to the universe. Dreamer’s Block is about triumph and struggle, and about zooming in on the nuances of life. It is for anyone who ever felt like they weren’t living up to their potential, and for everyone who self-motivated their way past that stage and onto the stage where they truly belonged.”

Hey guys, David Toro here-wanted to give an update onto who came before us and has been putting in work in ways that can only be hated on. Skeptic Media which has been putting out media on the strength of the love for our sport in NYC for a while now.
That being said, I want to kick off this new feature: NY Scene featuring great movements in NYC that have lots of talent and have been part of the NYC scene since before ODNY’s time. Which is essentially everyone… of course with a few honorable exceptions.
Sketpic Media is the conception of Navin Hardyal, a Bronx native. Navin has been putting out edits … well probably longer than I’ve been skating. He’s literally the first person I saw 540 out of a soul grind for fun. Boss shit. Dude has been putting in work since way back. Anyhow, most cinematographers know how challenging putting out footage can be. Whether it’s judging the skating itself or judging how you filmed it–there is always a video clip measuring up to your standards of quality. Especially when trying to represent a scene that has been known for quality skating due to it’s specific place in time.
Skeptic has definitely been a staple in NYC skating featuring guys like: Rafael Herrera, Jose Henriquez, Ramelle Knight, Joaquin Fletcher, Evan Grimball, Will Torres, Greg Sturino, Damian Michalski, Jeff Matteo, and many more. Peep game and show some love. NYC forever.

I’m happy to welcome Ryan Loewy to the OD Crew. I’ve been trying to build ODNY as a collective of people with aims to achieve quality in the areas of skating, design, photograhpy, video, and apparel since 2006. With my obligations increasing dramatically since then, It’s impossible for me to run all aspects of the brand and site at this point by myself. Especially with my primary focus being apparel and making edits on the OD site. That being said, I couldn’t think of anyone better than Ryan to help out with this large task of capturing our NYC scene. His work is amazing and he’s been a prominent photographer in our scene for some time. Small contributions of his include covering most skate events and shooting photos with locals when ever he can. He also helps out other NYC outlets by spreading the word on the latest NYC content on be-mag.com. He’s been a contributor to be-mag for a while now and has even contributed to I Roll NY and Skatelife which is great. Be on the look out for his photography here on the OD site or his ramblings on the Daily Grind blog! I trust he will bring some killer stuff to the table.
For those of you who aren’t familiar with Ryan’s work, I leave you with a few stills of Ryan’s latest project entitled: NY Rollerbladers. His aim is to capture every skater in the city! Gotta catch ‘em all!
You can view more of these bomb shots on Ryan’s Tumblr. Drop a comment to share your thoughts or email Ryan personally at: firstname.lastname@example.org.
